The name of the book is Awakenings. Cultural prejudice, economic problems, self-esteem issues, prejudice, drug addiction, peer pressure, stereotypes, and the value of an education are all discussed and battled within Awakenings.

The workbook, which is used in conjunction with Awakenings, emphasizes the following skills: vocabulary, critical thinking, predicting consequences, drawing conclusions, and basic language and writing skills. Plus, the student workbook focuses on the history of the nation.
