Teach to the child's strengths/ Davis Dyslexia Correction

Submitted: May 07, 2004

As we brought the school home, we found that homeschool was just as frustrating as public school had been. It was only after we heard The Animal Fable ( told at http://www.iammykidsteacher.com/ourmission.html) and began going with the interests and strengths of our children that we began enjoying a more peaceful household and greater educational success for each student.

The youngest son didn't read after five different phonics and reading programs, when a newspaper article pointed towards his being dyslexic. Fortunately, a GOOGLE search led me to the Davis Dyslexia Correction site and I learned that dyslexia is caused by a certain mode of thinking and that Ron Davis discovered how to control the thought processes and read, even though he was (is?) dyslexic. It was fortunate, because the Davis Dyslexia site doesn't look at the multi-dimensional-picture-thinking process as a disability, but a talent that must be controlled in order to successfully read. A Davis Dyslexia Correction Program turned my son into a reader!
