Timeline history to show the connections

Submitted: March 01, 2003

Often we tend to look at history as isolated events, incidents, or time periods. But the reality is that events don't happen in isolation and history is full of interesting connections. One great way to see the connections in history is to make a timeline.

We have a huge timeline we made out of the old green and white bar computer paper. The green and white lines on the paper work great as year lines. But you could just as easily use butcher paper or a notebook or a computer.

Every time we learn something about the past we add it to the time line. This way we can see more easily how things are related. We also add pictures, which makes this activity great for visual learners.
