Backyard Jungle encourages both an interest in nature and creativity. Kids create a "backyard", either real or imaginary, and then add their "discoveries" to it. Discoveries are photographs or drawings of plants, animals, or other aspects of nature. Like the backyards, the discoveries can be either real or imaginary. There is even a drawing tool right on the site that kids can use to make pictures.

Kids can view other kids backyards and discoveries, and even vote on them. My son was thrilled when some of his discoveries were voted as favorites.
