Fun game to learn multiplication tables

Submitted: March 23, 2007

Before we discovered TimezAttack, my son struggled with the multiplication tables. But he loved TimezAttack, and with the game very quickly learned the multiplication facts. The game is really fun, unlike some educational so-called games, and it seems well designed to help kids learn multiplication quickly and easily. The game looks and plays like a real video game; my son really enjoyed it. The game doesn't just drill the kids to memorize the math facts. It also shows them visually so that they understand each multiplication fact conceptually as well as just remembering it.

There is a free version, but I highly recommend the paid version because it has several different levels/themes to help keep the kids from getting bored: a troll theme, a dragon theme, and a robots/outer space theme. The free one only has one theme. I hope that in the future they can add more themes; the three that come with the game are great, but three themes aren't really enough to keep the game exciting through all the tables. Even so, this is the best thing I've found for teaching the multiplication tables, and it really works!
