Collecting State License Plates

Submitted: August 15, 2003

My son and I have been looking for license plates from other states, trying to see how many we can "collect". Every time we see a new one, he colors the corresponding state on an outline map of the United States using a highlighter. His goal is eventually to "collect" all 50 U.S. states (we've even seen a couple from Canada). To make it even more exciting, he has an informal contest going on with his cousin to see who can get them all first. So far, she is ahead (she even has Hawaii!) but we are hoping to catch up on our trip to Nevada next week. Many of the states now have beautiful license plates with pictures on them, making this old game even more fun.
